-Billy Graham: “Confusing Evil With Good”

by Dr. D ~ June 16th, 2012

(Billy Graham meeting with Pres. Obama: Wikipedia)

The American culture is in flux and what used to be considered as ‘good’ and moral many times are now looked upon as politically incorrect while things that the Bible clearly teaches as ‘evil’ and immoral are now considered as normal and in some cases as ‘good.’

We have been posting on this shift for some time now from a Christian perspective. We have sadly noted the continuing decline in American culture away from the morality of the Bible that was the foundation that America was originally built upon and made it great. Now some Biblical teachings are not only being challenged but are now characterized as bigoted and immoral by some leaders in today’s increasingly secular society.

In times past, Rev. Billy Graham was considered to be a moral leader and an example of the very best that America had to offer the world. Here’s an article from the past by Graham that speaks to this trying time in America when good and evil are increasingly confused:

Confusing Evil With Good

Many of our news magazines carry stories of immorality. Theologians and pastors are quoted as condoning sexual immorality under certain circumstances. The Bible says through Isaiah the prophet:

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20).

Humanity has always been dexterous at confusing evil with good. That was Adam and Eve’s problem, and it is our problem today. If evil were not made to appear good, there would be no such thing as temptation. It is in their close similarity that the danger lies.

Modern social righteousness often differs from the righteousness of the Bible. Someone has said: “A wrong deed is right if the majority of people declare it not to be wrong.” By this principle we can see our standards shifting from year to year according to the popular vote! Divorce was once frowned upon by society, and laws against fornication and adultery were strictly enforced. But now divorce is accepted by society, and fornication is glorified in our literature and films.

The Bible says: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil.” God has not changed. His standards have not been lowered. God still calls immorality a sin, and the Bible says God is going to judge it.

  1. Priscilla

I do believe in Jesus Christ & that he rose. I gave my heart to the Lord when I was 4 years of age but fell away. Today I’m back. I believe the End Times are near & I’m scared to death that I don’t know by Bible well enough or remember all I should. I do Pray, but still feel fear. I do know it’s probably the serperant working on me, but do you have any suggestons besides my Praying & reading the Bible? 2. My husband is starting to believe but at times doesn’t want to hear. I’m very worried 4 him. 3. My daugher is gay. Why I don’t understand. She once was married but then turned gay. I tell her it’s not right. In her heart she knows but I don’t know how to handle that either other than Pray. More ideas? Thanks and God Bless, Priscilla
