Obama, Ahmadinejab, and a Shia Apocalyptic Scenario?

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejab has been talking about an apocalyptic Shia/Islamic scenario for several years now–predicting that ‘the Hidden Imam‘ would soon return as the end-time Mahdi that establishes Islamic rule over the entire world.
Following the election of Barack Obama, some Shities actually believe that Obama could be a possible fulfillment of an end-time Islamic prophecy.
I found the link to this at SmartChristian.com and in an article by Daniel Pipes. Here is a quote from the original article

According to the tradition, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet’s cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.” Commanding “the strongest army on earth,” the new ruler in the West will carry “a clear sign” from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali. The tradition concludes: “Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us.”
In a curious coincidence Obama’s first and second names–Barack Hussein–mean “the blessing of Hussein” in Arabic and Persian. His family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, which means “he is with us,” the magic formula in Majlisi’s tradition.
Mystical reasons aside, the Khomeinist establishment sees Obama’s rise as another sign of the West’s decline and the triumph of Islam. Obama’s promise to seek unconditional talks with the Islamic Republic is cited as a sign that the U.S. is ready to admit defeat.
Response: This is not good at all. It is the type of scenario that Ahmadinejab might take serious and plan accordingly. If there is a perception that the USA is in decline under Obama’s administration and that he is an actual sign that Islam is about to rise up and dominate, the Iranian leaders might miscalculate and bring about an actual confrontation with Israel, the United States, and the West.
Pres. Ahmadinejab has already threatened Israel’s existence on a number of occasions. The Iranians last week tested some new missiles that could reach Israel and parts of Europe. If and when they actually go nuclear–then this scenario could end up having some serious consequences indeed.
It is doubtful that the Israelis would wait to act until a nuclear missile was actually in the air headed their way. Look for a strike way before the Iranians have that capability. One can only guess what the aftermath would bring–it would not be pretty and it could be apocalyptic! *Top

there is a prophecy like this but this doesnt mean that obama is that person.if he wud have been that he wud not have asked for negotiations against iran or he wud have supported iran in their aim?i believe soon the promised on will reappear and ill this earth with justice.we r not waiting for any black men we r waiting for the promised one oue mahdi our imam our love our respect our leader our heart.may my father and mother be sacrificed on u o my imam m leader soon we will pledege with along with all good in habitants in these world along with jesus christ who wud pray behind u and wud ask his followers to accept the straight path of islam.

I believe that your Mahdi could well be the ‘Anti-Christ’ of the Book of Revelation and the One who you say will be called Jesus who supports the Mahdi is probably the ‘False Prophet’ of the same book.
The real historical Jesus Christ is the Son of God and he will be coming back in the clouds to conquer both of them and save the Christians and the Jews. As it is written let it be so–Praise the Holy One of Israel.

Like most people here, I have been trying to make sense of the recent world events. I have accidentally came across an article today that partly explains some of the beliefs and differences. I don’t know how authentic the sources are.
A- Shiah :
1-Shia’s Mahdi will destroy the Ka’bah and the two Holy Mosques of Mecca and Medina:
“When Imam Mahdi rises up, he will demolish Al-Haram Mosque ( in Mecca) …’” (Al-Mufid, Al-Irshad. p. 411 and At-Tusi, Kitab al Ghaibah, p. 282)…

“Do you know what the Qa’im (Shia’s Mahdi) will start with? 2- Shia’s Imam Mahdi – Dajjal- anti Christ-:
Shia’s Imam Mahdi will be an Anti-Arab bigot who will massacre the Arabs

3- Jews & prominent Prophets will be among the followers of Shia’s Mahdi
Sheikh al-Mufeed has reported in his Al-Irshaad based on al-Mufadhaal ibnu Umar that Imam Abu Abdullah [as] said: “With the Qa’im twenty seven men from the people of Moses (meaning Jews or Israelites), seven from Ahl Al-Kahf (People of the Cave), (prophet) Joshua bin Nun, (prophet) Solomon, Abu Dajana Al-Ansari, Al-Miqdad, Malik Al-Ahtar will come out and they will be his supporters.” (Al-Mufeed Al-Tusi, Al-Irshaad p.402)
4-Shia’s Mahdi will Rule according to the Law of David

Muhammad ibn Ahmad attributes to Jaeed al Hamdani asking Ali ibn Al-Hussein [a.s.] (Shia’s 4th Imams): “I asked him by which law will you (the 12 Imams) rule?” Ali ibn Al-Hussein [as]: said: “By the ruling (law) of the family of David, and if we encounter something perplexing, Ruh Al- Quds ( Holy Spirit, meaning Angel Gabriel ) will solve it for us.” ( Al-Kulayni , Al-Kafi, Vol. 1, p. 397)
5- Shia’s Mahdi will call God by God’s Hebrew name

Al-Mufadhal ibn Umar is reported to have said that Abu Abdullah [a.s.] (Shia’s 6th Imams) said: “When the Imam (Mahdi) makes a call (for prayer), he will supplicate to God using God’s Hebrew name…” (Al-Numani, Al-Ghayba , p.326)
6-Mentioning the name of the Shia’s Mahdi is not permissible

According to Al-Majlisi’s Bihar Al-Anwar, Vol. 51, page 33, it is not permissible to mention the name of the Shia’s Mahdi and whoever refers to him by his name shall be cursed.
Shia’s Imam Mahdi could be the Dajjal (Anti-Christ)
The “Qaem” (Imam Mahdi) of the Shia will rule according to the Laws of David and the family of David, according to the Shia narrations they attribute to their Imams in Al-Kafi, the book most relied upon by Shia scholars out of the four Shia Hadith books.
All of the following Shia narrations come from the same section in Al-Kafi reported by Al-Kulyani, located in Al-Kafi (Volume 1, p. 387-398):
Ali ibn Ibrahim attributes to Abi Ubaidah saying: “When the Qaem (Imam Mahdi) of the household of the Prophet appears, he will rule according to the ruling (law) of
Muhammad ibn Yahya attributes to Muhammad ibn Sinan- Abaan saying: “I heard Abu Abdullah [as] (one of Shia’s 12 Imams) saying: “The World will not fade away unless a person from us appears who will rule according to the ruling (law) of the family of David.”
Ahmad ibn Muhammad attributes to Ammar AsSaabati saying: “I asked Abu Abdullah [as] (one of Shia’s 12 Imams): “On what will you (the 12 Imams) rule if you are made the rulers.” He replied: “By the ruling of God and the ruling (law) of David. And if we are confronted by a situation which we cannot solve, Gabriel (Ruh al Quds – Holy Spirit) will reveal it to us.”
Muhammad ibn Ahmad attributes to Jaeed al Hamdani asking Ali ibn Al-Hussein [as] (one of Shia’s 12 Imams): “I asked him by which law will you rule?” Ali ibn al-Hussein [as]: said: “By the ruling (law) of David, and if there is something which we are unaware of, Gabriel (Ruh al Quds- Holy Spirit) will reveal it to us.”
Ahmad ibn Mahran attributes to Ammar AsSaabati saying: “I asked Abu Abdullah [as] (one of Shia’s 12 Imams): …‘By how will you rule?’ Abu Abdullah [as] replied: ‘By the rule of God, and by the ruling (law) of David.”
B: the Bible :
firstly they claim that Jesus said: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law (the Old Testament) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (the Old Testament) until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:17-18)”John 8 : 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.)
so the God of old testament is the god of new testament :and Jesus – god of Gold testament is he the same God of new

The “translation” based on transliterating President Obama’s name is not quite accurate. There is no verb in the phrase “o (u) ba ma,” so it would read “he with us,” not “he IS with us.” As far as Daniel Pipes, I don’t trust the man as far as I could throw him.
